I came to photography indirectly. In college I pursued a Bachelor of Science degree and later an MBA instead of following my love of art. Work experience included a tour of duty with the Air Force as a navigator, advertising agency vice president, adjunct professor in marketing at San Francisco State University, documentary and educational film producer, general manager of Sunset Magazine's Film and Video division and, finally, back to my first love -- portrait photography.
I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and PPA Certified. (This is a professional designation earned by passing a three-part examination covering all phases of photography that less than 2,500 photographers worldwide have achieved.) I am also a member of the Professional Photographers of California and a past board member of the Professional Photographers of Northern California.
I work with my wife, Glenda, from our home studio in Lafayette, California. We have three grown children and seven grandchildren. We use outdoor locations for nearly all of my portraits. I accept a limited number of commissions to allow time to plan and create portraits of particular value for each client.
